A RANDOMNESS COLLABORATION

1) The great rabbis of our time, who put out letters against lipa and others, have decided to put out a letter against racist comments on Obama and others (did I just compare Lipa to Obama?). Obviously its getting way out of hand.

2) Why is that most rabbis are fat? I just noticed, that for some reason they just are. I find it funnier, when they preach about over indulging, when it comes to food. "don't eat that extra piece/slice of kugel, kukish cake, pizza". Gets me thinking "what have they been doing?"

3) I have seen Kosher soap pads. Who needs for the pad to be kosher? I understand soap but whats a soap pad going to be made out of? Synthetics. Oh no! maybe the steel wool grew on a non kosher animal; that's why you need an certified OU (others hechsheirim also included) on it. here is a picture.

Got any other randomness out there.

Soap pads have soap on them.
Though I don't understand why soap needs to be kosher.

Moshe

Your'e telling me steel wool has soap on it. I dont think so.

Ookamikun said...

Sure does, see for yourself.

OK - even if we agree that soap could possibly require a hechsher, will somebody PLEASE explain to me why ALUMINUM FOIL or CROCK POT BAGS require one???!??
This is a rhetorical question.
I know the answer.
MONEY.

Ookamikun said...

Give them time, soon toilet paper is gonna require a hechsher.

hey, you haven't seen the KOSHER TOILET PAPER? Kosher Innovations has a kosher for shabbat toilet paper. It hangs on your toilet roll dispenser so that you don't accidentally rip on shabbat if you forget to take a tissue from the box and reach for the roll instead. Not an OU but close.

Ookamikun said...

And this is what that kollel money is being spent on.

1)No comment
2)Rabbis sit around a lot... and read a lot... at least the ones I know...so they probably gain more weight than others...cause they rarely exercise?
3)Soap pads have soap on them. Average soap has digylceride and monoglyceride in it which is produced from animal fat.

I wanna get glatt kosher toilet paper. I insist that the lungs of the kosher toilet paper are examined :D

From what I remember from my basar b' chalav classes...food may be wrapped and covered with materials which are not going to let it mix with other food. Thus that kind of aluminum foil and the crack pot bags will prevent this. However you can also buy other regular plastic bags and aluminium foil to cover.

to all

Ok, it does have soap in it.

G6

so true.

Mrs. Lakewood Falling Down

I don think moshe meant it that way (who cares if he did). I remember when hesh posted it.

Moshe

lol

Esther Hadassah

So G6 is right. its all for the money. Unless you will be like a rebbi I had. He said Maybe the goy will spit non kosher gum into the machinery. I am more afraid of him spitting.

Well considering that soap touches the plate when you clean it, and then food goes on it, makes sense that it should be kosher. But I never checked if we had kosher soap. Actually funny, cause my little brother used the dishwasher and he didn't realize that you don't pour in dish washing soap into the dishwasher, so suds started coming out, it was really cool.

It could be that the Rabbi's aren't overweight, just that they wear a lot of pairs of tzizis underneath, like R' Shteinman.

Mikeinmidwood said...

There is only one Rabbi that wears that many pairs of tzitzis and its not Rav shteinman. Cant remember who. Its not like tefillin where people wear different pairs.

Jewish Side of Babysitter said...

right, ok, so then I mixed up names. I saw a video of it, just forgot the name.

Your right, there may not be different shitas. But there is a difference with the techiles, and the black stripes, and other types. But I think he wears many tzizis because it's like 613 maybe? I forgot.
